John Reaves was born Layla Reaves in 1976. Although her mother’s identity is unknown, it is known that Layla’s parents separated when she was a little child. The son of renowned American football coach Monte Kiffin and his wife Robin, Lane Monte Kiffin was born on May 9, 1975, in Lincoln, Nebraska, in the United States. Chris, one of his brothers who plays American football and currently serves as the San Francisco 49ers’ “Pass Rush Specialist” coach, is also active in the sport. Lane attended Minnesota’s Bloomington Jefferson High School, where he graduated in 1994.

Career
Lane started his career as a graduate assistant for the Colorado State University team. This lasted just a year, before he was recruited by the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NFL, as their new quality control assistant. This also lasted a year, and then in 2001, he became the tight ends coach at the University of Southern California, under Pete Carroll. Lane remained at USC until 2006, during which time he covered several positions, including the wide receivers coach and offensive co-ordinator.
Oakland Raiders’ Youngest Head Coach
At just 31 years old, Lane was recruited by the Oakland Raiders and made their new head coach. Unfortunately, his time in Oakland wasn’t successful – in his first season, the Raiders had a record of just four wins and 12 losses, and due to continuing poor results, and tension between players, head coach and the owner, Al Davis, eventually resulted in Lane being fired over the telephone on the 30th September 2008.
Return to College Football
After his unsuccessful stint in NFL, Lane became the head coach of the University of Tennessee Volunteers, where he remained for only one season, and had a record of seven wins and six losses.
